Injury Prevention and Maintenance

Training for a race or big athletic event? Let’s get there safely.

Injury Prevention and Maintenance

Injury prevention begins with a discussion of your current training and what your goals are. We then evaluate your postural and movement patterns to identify any factors that may lead to injury during training.

If running is a part of your goal, we will perform a comprehensive gait analysis to evaluate how your form may be negatively impacting your body. Overuse injuries tend to come from asymmetries in the body or less than optimal form.

Together, we develop a plan to help you stay injury free and keep you doing what you love.

What to expect during your first session:

Getting to know you

We will take a detailed history to understand more about what you’re dealing with and what your goals for treatment are. This is your chance to tell us all about your current aches, pains, and anything else that has motivated you to come in to see us.

Postural and Movement Assessment

We want to understand more about how you move, what your postural tendencies are, and what may be key factors to manage during treatment.

In order to do this we need to see and feel how your body moves. This may require us to use our hands to assess parts of the body or observe you moving through some basic exercises.

We will also use this time to educate you on our findings along the way to help you better understand what is going on with your body.

CreatING a Plan

After taking in all of the information that you have provided us with, and pairing it with the findings from the assessment, we will develop a plan of action to help you reach your goals. You will walk away with an understanding of how to begin your PT journey.
